LAS VEGAS – The Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce has named Doug Geinzer, founder and president of Las Vegas-based Recruiting Nevada, Entrepreneur of the Year in its second annual Biz E awards.
Each year the chamber recognizes 12 nominees in four categories, including nonprofit, small business, innovative business and entrepreneur of the year, for their contributions to their professions and their communities.
“The Las Vegas Chamber is full of talented and dedicated professionals who have Nevada’s best interests in mind,” Geinzer said. “I’m honored to have been chosen among so many worthy individuals as a businesses and community leader.”
Established by Geinzer in 1993, Recruiting Nevada diligently works on the frontline to strengthen Nevada’s economy through socially responsible recruiting to Nevada via the Web. Publishing one of the state’s largest Nevada-specific employment Web sites, Recruiting Nevada focuses on Nevada’s weakest points of employment, including education and health care.
Recruiting Nevada has been credited with helping to increase Nevada’s nurse-to-patient ratio over the last four years from 520 to 547 per every 100,000 – a substantial increase, as Nevada has opened more hospitals and hospital expansions than any other state. His efforts have allowed Nevada to surpass California to no longer have the worst nursing shortage in the United States.
Additionally, Geinzer has partnered with several local businesses to market career fairs attracting out-of-state jobseekers and older workers to Nevada jobs and also writes a daily, Nevada-focused blog filled with information on recruitment tips and trends. The blog has become a one-stop resource for recruiters focusing on the Nevada marketplace.
The recipient of the Circle of Excellence Award from the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, Geinzer is also founder and five-year board member of the Las Vegas chapter of the Entrepreneur’s Association. Recruiting Nevada is also a member of the International Association of Employment Web sites, was recognized as Most Influential in Employment in the 2006 Top 40 Under 40 designation and was a finalist in the “Innovator” category of the Las Vegas Chamber’s E-biz Awards in 2006.
In addition to his professional work, Geinzer is actively involved in the community.
Geinzer serves as chairman of the We Care Committee, a nonprofit program that works to support teachers, as well as their family members, as they move to Nevada. The program is provided through a partnership between the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and the Clark County School District. He also chairs the recruitment task forces for the Southern Nevada Medical Industry Coalition and Nursing Institute of Nevada.
