LAS VEGAS – The most recent Opportunity Boulevard Career Fair 2007, which took place Nov. 15, attracted more than 2,200 jobseekers – 215 in which came to Las Vegas from out-of-state (and were pre-registered) – to learn about employment opportunities in Nevada.

Marketed by Las Vegas-based Recruiting Nevada, the career fair at Green Valley Ranch Resort attracted professionals in much-needed career fields. In fact, out of the 1,835 pre-registered attendees, there were 128 health care professionals, 37 educational professionals and 35 construction professionals. An additional more than 450 people who did not pre-register attended the fair as well.

Recruiting Nevada, in partnership with Greenspun Media Group, The News, In Business Las Vegas, Nevada Broadcasters Association and AARP-Nevada, has made it its goal to be the driving force in a serious effort to solve Nevada’s critical employment shortage.

Meant to reduce cannibalization of one another’s talent within Nevada, attract the right out-of-state people to fill open Nevada jobs, and help trailing spouses and family members find jobs, the fairs will continue to target out-of-state professionals and older workers.

The group has hosted five career fairs in 2007, which, combined, have attracted more than 14,200 jobseekers – over 2,915 of which came to Nevada from out-of-state to attract professionals to Nevada jobs.

“Despite recent reports that Southern Nevada’s growth is slowing down, the Las Vegas Valley is still more cost-effective and offers a much higher quality of life that many people, especially Southern Californians, are attracted to,” said Doug Geinzer, founder and president of Recruiting Nevada.

Something that, in lieu of the recent fires that swept Southern California, is more relevant today than ever before, as the Las Vegas Valley is free from natural disasters. In fact, Recruiting Nevada, which publishes the state’s largest Nevada-specific employment Web site, RecruitingNevada.com, and attracts jobseekers in career fields across the board to Nevada job postings via the Web, saw its California job applications double in the weeks following the beginning of the fires.

The next fair will take place Thursday, Feb. 21, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. in the Estancia Ballroom at Green Valley Ranch Resort – located at 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway, just off S. Green Valley Parkway and Interstate 215.

Registration for businesses to participate in the next career fair is open. Businesses can register by going to RecruitingNevada.com and clicking on the career fair link.

Recruiting Nevada diligently works on the frontline to strengthen Nevada’s economy through socially responsible recruiting to Nevada via the Web. For more information on Recruiting Nevada or to find open jobs in Nevada, visit RecruitingNevada.com or call 702-240-4100.
